Manitoba grapplers pick up 5 medals at Western Canada Games
Five Manitoba wrestlers picked up Western Canada Summer Games bronze medals Tuesday in Kamloops, to surpass Manitoba’s highest total as far as the Western Canada Games go.
And that’s just a start, as Manitoba is guaranteed three more medals later in the day, as three women grapplers go after gold.

Bronze medal winners were Winnipeggers Brandon Poulin in the 42 kilogram division, Stephan Labossiere (46 kg.), Armin Kharzi (69 kg.), Tylor Byron (76 kg.) and Austin Spence, Peguis (115 kg.).
It took only 45 seconds for Byron to pin his opponent from Saskatchewan.
"He went to shoot on me and I got him with a front head and arm, and then twisted around and I grabbed his leg and cradled him for the pin," he said.
Going for gold this afternoon is Rachel Alder of Oakbank in the 49 kg., division; Alisha Kaegi of Balmoral in the 60 kg., division; and Amber Wiebe of Morden in the 46 kg. class.
