Winnipegger Nicole Edwards to compete in IAAF World Track and Field Championships
Nicole Edwards of Winnipeg has been selected by Athletics Canada to Canada’s team which will compete in the 2010 International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 12-14 in Doha, Qatar.
Edwards, a student at the University of Michigan, will compete in the women’s 1,500 metres race. She earned a spot on Canada’s team with a strong performance on Jan. 23 at the New Balance Games in New York City when she was the top Canadian performer.
She placed second in the women’s elite mile with a time of four minutes and 29.42 seconds.
The 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships will be held in the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar which can seat 15,000 spectators.
