Edmison and Schnell repeat at Canadian university squash champions
TORONTO - Graeme Schnell of Calgary and Stephanie Edmison of the University of Western Ontario repeated as the men's and women's champions on Sunday at the Canadian university squash championships held this past week at the University of Toronto.
Edmison didn't lose a single game throughout the tournament and won the women's final 11-6, 11-4, 11-9 over surprise finalist Micaala Seth of the University of Waterloo for her third straight crown.
Seth is currently the fifth-ranked Canadian junior.
"I thought I played well but my opponent surprised me," said Edmison, who advanced to the quarter-finals at last years Canadian senior championships. "The key for me was staying in it mentally and never getting overconfident."
Schnell had his hands full with Ontario player of the year Eric Dingle of the University of Waterloo winning in the maximum five games 11-9, 6-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5. Dingle was third at last year's university championships.
