3. With Ontario lying two, Martin tries a runback double-takeout with his last, but only manages to remove one Ontario stone. Howard needs to draw only the eight-foot with the last rock of the end to get his deuce, but he pulls the string and has to settle for one. 1-1.
4. With Alberta lying one, Howard plays a short runback attempt but his rock goes sideways at the hogline and the runback misses. Martin draws for an easy deuce. After the end, Howard confronts Alberta coach Jules Owchar and complains that Alberta third John Morris is leaving hand and knee prints on the ice and just such a print caused his shot to miss. 3-1 Alberta.
5. Howard fails to roll-out on an open takeout and is forced to take one. 3-2 Alberta.

8. Looking like he was going to give up a deuce, Martin makes a cross-house double takeout with his last rock -- a shot he didn't call -- to get out of trouble. Howard hits and rolls out. Blank. 4-2 Alberta.
9. Martin misses a very makeable double takeout with his last, allowing Howard to nose-hit for his deuce. 4-4.
10. With Ontario lying two, including one biting the four-foot, Martin draws the button for one and the win. 5-4 Alberta.
