B.C. wins bronze
KINGSTON, ONT. -- B.C.’s Kelly Scott is the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts bronze medalist.
Scott scored a single in the ninth end and then stole one more in the tenth to defeat Team Canada’s Heather Nedohin 10-8 in Sunday afternoon’s bronze medal game.
B.C. -- Scott, third Jeanna Schraeder, second Sasha Carter and lead Sarah Wazney -- won $5,000 and earned 30 points on the Canadian Team Ranking System, which will determine the participants in next winter’s Olympic pre-trials and trials competitions. Scott has now all but clinched a spot in the former competition.
It was a bitter ending for Team Canada’s Heather Nedohin, who also lost the semifinal earlier Sunday to Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and lost six of her final eight games after opening at 6-0.
Jones will face Ontario’s Rachel Homan in the final of the Canadian women’s curling championship here tonight (6 p.m. CT, TSN).
