JENNIFER JONES and her St. Vital rink dropped a 4-3 decision to B.C.'s Kelley Law and her New Westminster team in quarter-final action at the Red Deer Curling Classic Monday morning.
Despite the loss, Jones earned $2,500 for reaching the playoff round of the $36,000 four-day World Curling Tour event.
Jones made her way into the money through the B-side bracket, winning five straight games throughout the course of the weekend, including a 4-3 win over rival Cathy Overton-Clapham.
Jones, a four-time Canadian champion, was behind the eight-ball early against Law. Down 4-0 after the fifth end, the Winnipeg foursome stormed back to make it a one-score game with one end to play, but Law ran Jones out of rocks to advance to the semifinal.
Jones and her team will next see action when they'll try to defend their crown at the $50,000 Sun Life Classic in Brantford, Ont. (Nov. 18-21).
