RG3 No. 1 in Washington
ASHBURN, Va. -- Robert Griffin III already has the No. 1 quarterback job with the Washington Redskins.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Sunday that the Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor will work with the starters when the Redskins begin full off-season practices later this month.
Said Shanahan: "He's the starter. Period."
Griffin completed a three-day rookie camp Sunday, a little over a week after he was selected second overall by the Redskins in the NFL draft. Griffin wore a No. 10 jersey with "Griffin III" on the back.
Wake gets big bucks
MIAMI -- The Miami Dolphins have extended linebacker Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season.
The six-foot-three, 260-pound former CFLer has played three seasons with the Dolphins, and led the team in sacks last year with 8 1/2. Wake has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles with Miami after coming to the Dolphins from the B.C. Lions, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year. ESPN is reporting the extension is worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed.
