Korey Banks is set to wear Bombers blue and gold for at least two seasons.
The defensive back signed a contract extension through 2015, the football club announced on Wednesday. The extension comes just a few weeks after the Bombers snapped up the veteran Banks in a trade with the B.C. Lions, where Banks spent eight of his 10 seasons in the CFL. Canadian receiver Kito Poblah went the other way.
The Bombers are angling for Banks, a well-respected 34-year-old veteran who has two Grey Cup rings, to bolster the locker room leadership. Of course, he also is expected to play dividends on the field – last year with the Lions, he racked up 46 tackles, three special teams tackles, a sack, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
