Bomber fans get chance to take piece of stadium home
It seems Canad Inns Stadium will actually close this time, as Winnipeg Blue Bombers season ticket holders are being offered the first chance to buy memorabilia from the stadium, including the actual seats they sat in.
The new Investors Group Field was expected to be in use this CFL season, but construction delays caused its opening to be pushed back a year. But this Saturday’s Bomber home game against Montreal will signal the end of the stadium in St. James.
And because of the upcoming move, plenty of items from the old building will be for sale, and season ticket holders get the first crack at things such as seats, lockers, signs, exercise equipment and, yes, even urinal troughs.
The sale runs from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 for season ticket holders only. The general public will have access from Dec. 2 until Dec. 16, or until everything is gone.
Also, the Bombers are selling "framed memory collections" which contain pieces of turf, goal posts and even footballs.
