Bombers' Cvetkovic wins second 'Good Guy' award

Winnipeg Blue Bombers' longsnapper Chris Cvetkovic has been named the winner of the 2012 Ed Kotowich "Good Guy" Award in recognition of his efforts in the community and contributions on the football field and to team camaraderie.

Cvetkovic, who also won the award in 2006, was recognized this year for starting the successful not-for-profit organization "Cvet's Pets" which helps local Winnipeg No-Kill Animal Rescue Programs. With Cvet's Pets, Cvetkovic holds numerous fundraising events throughout the city including poker tournaments, socials and autograph signings.

An 11-year CFL veteran, Cvetkovic has lived in Winnipeg year-round since 2005. He is also very involved with Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba among many other charities and known to be quick to volunteer his time for Blue Bombers appearances during the season and offseason throughout the province of Manitoba.

The award is named after Ed Kotowich who was a former outstanding offensive lineman with Winnipeg from 1955-1961. He played in three Grey Cup games (’58, ’59, ’61). After retiring as a player, Kotowich was an offensive line coach with the Winnipeg Rods and later with minor football programs at Winakwa and Windsor Park Community Clubs. Kotowich also served as an alderman for the city of St. Boniface (1968-1977) and worked on a number of community boards.
