Bombers add more Canadian talent to roster

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have taken a step to beefing up their homegrown talent.

The club announced the signing of three Canadians on Thursday: offensive lineman Brendan Dunn and DB Jawann Westerman, both of whom spent time on the practice roster in 2012, and University of Manitoba safety Teague Sherman.

Dunn (6-7, 296, Western,) was selected by the Bombers in the third round (17th overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft and spent all of last season on the team’s practice roster. He also spent the first half of the 2011 season on the practice roster before returning to school for his final year of eligibility and was named a CIS First Team All-Canadian at tackle.

Westerman (5-11, 177, Rutgers) joined the Bomber practice roster in October after going undrafted last spring. He was a walk-on as a freshman at Rutgers and played both receiver and defensive back.

Sherman (5-11, Manitoba) was just recently named the CIS First-Team All-Canadian safety for the second-consecutive season. He finished with 45 tackles, second in Canada West, and added one sack and one interception while forcing two fumbles.
