Ready or not, here they come.
The 2-10 Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Wednesday held their final full practice at Investors Group Field in advance of Friday night's home date against the 8-4 B.C. Lions.
Just as they've done all week, the Bombers once again rested a few starters at practice, with defensive back Demond Washington and defensive lineman Kenny Mainor both getting maintenance days on Wednesday.
Bombers head coach Tim Burke said nothing in particular was ailing either man -- or any of the other starters who've gotten maintenance days this week.
"It's just a matter of resting guys who are tired," said Burke. "It's nothing -- it's just guys whose bodies are starting to wear down."
One player who hasn't gotten a day off this week is starting QB Max Hall, who will need all the practice he can get this week in advance of facing a B.C. Lions secondary who are tied for the league lead in interceptions and are second in passing yards surrendered.
Burke said a BC secondary full of CFL veterans has married nicely this season with a defence orchestrated by BC defensive guru Rich Stubler.
"They're pretty good. Their whole defence is good," said Burke.
"He needs veteran guys in his system because it's really complex and they make a lot of changes on the fly..."
The Lions would clinch a playoff spot this week with either a win over Winnipeg or a loss by Edmonton.
