The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are about to have a new man in charge of the defence.

The team is set to sign Gary Etcheverry to be the club's defensive co-ordinator. The 57-year-old CFL veteran would also be bringing Nelson Martin in to coach the defensive backs.

Etcheverry has previously had stints in the league with the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Renegades and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was defensive coordinator with the Riders from 2008-10. He was hired to coach the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the 2012 season, but after the team started the season 0-5, Etcheverry and most of his staff were fired.

Martin, 55, has been Dbs coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the last two seasons after two seasons with the Riders under Etcheverry.
