Danny McManus was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame week in 2011.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have hired Danny McManus to head up the club’s U.S. scouting department.

McManus has been named assistant GM and director of U.S. scouting. The team is making him available to the media at a news conference with GM Kyle Walters on Tuesday.

Walters is arguably one of the most knowledgeable CFL executives where Canadian content is concerned but has very little experience working stateside. McManus, who had been a U.S. scout for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, will add balance to Walters’ staff.

The Bombers also announced on Monday that they have hired former Toronto Argonauts player personnel director Ted Goveia as their second new assistant general manager and director of player personnel. The teams said the contract of former player personnel director Ken Moll is not being renewed.

The Bombers also announced Monday that they are keeping on Drew Morris and given him an expanded role as national scout.

The club is still working on hiring a head coach and the names Mike O’Shea and Khari Jones continue to be mentioned the most, but current Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive coordinator George Cortez has also been offered a second interview.
