Michel-Pierre Pontbriand, at a practice at Canad Inn stadiums, is a solid blocker and special teams player since joining the club as a free agent in August of 2011.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have locked up one of their important, if not unsung, Canadian pieces.

The club announced today it has re-signed fullback Michel-Pierre Pontbriand, who was scheduled to become a free agent next month after spending the past three seasons with the Bombers.

"Michel-Pierre is a great asset for us as a Canadian player, who understands our league, is a great teammate and locker room guy, and a player who works extremely hard every day," said GM Kyle Walters in a press release.

Pontbriand (6-2, 239, Laval) is a solid blocker and special teams player since joining the club as a free agent in August of 2011. In part-time duty, he’s pulled in six passes for 114 yards while adding 18 special-teams tackles.
