Bombers sign QB Elliott

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have locked up a player they believe still has much more to show in the Canadian game.
The Bombers announced the signing of import quarterback Joey Elliott this morning. Elliott chose to re-sign with the club and skip free agency, which officially opens up Feb. 15.
Terms of the deal were not released.
"Joey is an athletic quarterback with great potential in this league," Bombers GM Joe Mack said in a statement. "He is a young, enthusiastic player, who is a great team guy and has the leadership qualities you look for in a quarterback."
Elliott, who missed most of the 2011 year with a torn-up knee, joined the Bombers in 2010 and slotted in as the third-string quarterback. He moved up the depth chart prior to training camp last year, before suffering the season-ending injury.
In four career games, the 25-year-old is 45-of-91 for 522 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
