Bombers sign receiver, defensive back

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a couple more prospects to the list of players who will chase their pro football dream at training camp this June.

The club announced today it has added import defensive back Josh Francis and non-import wide receiver Julian Feoli-Gudino.

Francis (6-0, 228, West Virginia) played two seasons at West Virginia, and totaled 4.5 sacks, 54 tackles, and 39 solo tackles. An 2012 All-Big 12 Honorable Metion in 2012 at linebacker, Francis was not selected in last spring’s NFL draft. Gil Brandt of NFL.com wrote the following scouting report on Francis heading into the draft:

"Francis is a really good athlete that will find himself in demand in the latter stages of the draft or as a high-priority undrafted free agent. The linebacker clocked in at 4.77 and 4.72 seconds for the 40-yard dash. He measured a 10-foot-5 in the broad jump and pumped out 25 strength lifts. He’s the kind of athlete that will make a good special teams player."

Feoli-Gudino (6-0, 200, Laval) – a native of Costa Rica -- was originally drafted 38th overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2011 CFL Draft. He returned to school for his final year of eligibility the following season and signed with the Argos for the 2012 season. Feoli-Gudino played in seven games with the Argonauts in 2012, mainly on special teams. Ditto in 2013, where he did return five punts for the Boatmen while working under new Bomber head coach Mike O’Shea.

Feoli-Gudino spent five seasons as a starter with the Rouge et Or (2007-2011), finishing his career as the second-leading pass catcher in CIS history (238) and with the 12th-most receiving yards (2,756). He was a four-Time First-Team QUFL All-Star and two-time All-Canadian.In 2008, he was named the MVP of the Vanier Cup game when he scored a 74-yard punt return touchdown and an 82-yard receiving touchdown.
