The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced Thursday details on their 2013 training camp, which will open Sunday, June 2 at the new Investors Group Field.
Main camp will be preceded by the rookie camp, featuring CFL newcomers and quarterbacks, which will open on Wednesday, May 29. Veterans report on June 1 and the entire team hits the field for the first time a day later.
The Bombers will play two pre-season games: June 12 at home against the Toronto Argonauts and then June 20 in Guelph against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The Bombers training camp schedule is below; practices are open to the public and times are subject to change.
Meanwhile, Bomber GM Joe Mack issued a statement on Thursday regarding the status of 2012 third-round draft pick Giovanni Aprile after he elected to return to school for his final year of eligibility after being accepted into a one-year teacher’s college program.
"Giovanni recently let us know about his intentions to return to school for one more year and our organization fully supports a decision like this when it comes to a young man’s future and preparing for life after football. We wish him the best in his studies this year and look forward to having him in training camp in 2014 where we hope he will compete for a spot on our roster."
Aprile was drafted in the third round (16th overall) in 2012 and attended training camp last season before returning to Queen’s where he played in seven g a.m.es and caught 36 passes for 619 yards and three touchdowns.
