The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a new coach to help shore up the running back corps, the team announced Thursday.
Steve Hladio, who just wrapped up his third season as offensive line and running backs coach with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will join the team for the 2013 season.
He has some ties to the club: not only did Hladio once coach current Blue Bomber coach Pat DelMonaco at the University of Albany, the club noted, but he also worked with Bombers offensive co-ordinator Gary Crowton at as a graduate assistant at Boston College, and helped out the Bombers at training camp last season.
"Steve is a very well-respected coach," Bombers head coach Tim Burke said in a statement. "We look forward to having him help out our offensive staff this season and work closely with our talented group of young running backs."
