Blue Bomber Report Record: 0–0–0

Call from a familiar voice

The phone rang this afternoon. Didn’t recognize the number, to be honest, and the caller didn’t identify himself.
But within two seconds we knew who was on the other end – former Bomber head coach Dave Ritchie.

"Hey," the caller began, "I understand you wrote a story last week and my name was in it. Just wanted to call and say thanks."

Bombers Scores

It wasn’t actually a story, but a box we ran with last week’s piece on the Bombers struggles of late heading into Labour Day. The box detailed the team’s record over the last 10 years leading up to the annual clash in Regina (Ritchie’s 2001 team that went 14-4, not surprisingly, had the best record). Somebody locally tipped off Dave about the mention and he decided to call and chat.

For the record Ritchie is doing some scouting for the B.C. Lions and next month will be in Vancouver as the 1994 Grey Cup squad he led will be inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame. In October he’ll be enshrined into the Fairmont State Hall of Fame.
