Hot in the Shade: Training Camp Day 11
Before sunstroke sets in, here are a few notes from Winnipeg Blue Bombers camp this morning:
LOOK WHO’S BACK: The club received some good news on the injury front today. Non import safety Ian Logan returned to the field after missing the first 10 days of training camp with a neck strain suffered before the start of camp. The non-import made quite the splash in his 2010 debut, nearly intercepting a Buck Pierce pass on the first play of the day. That introduction drew a number of hoot and hollers from the defensive players. Canadian Brady Browne had been filling in for Logan during his absence.
JANUARY UPDATE: He’s out roughly eight weeks with a torn pectoral muscle, but offensive lineman Glenn January doesn’t appear to be moping around. The hulking left guard was out on the field for practice this morning, overseeing the line workout with fellow injured lineman Ryan Donnelly.
WATCHING: DB Jovon Johnson (knee) looks close to returning. Same story for WR Travis Shelton (hamstring). LB Nick Kordic (concussion), WR David Ball (hamstring), WR Jabari Arthur (undisclosed) and FB Daryl Stephenson (hamstring) all kept to the sidelines. LB Marcellus Bowman was out with the flu.
NOT A FAN: Count DB Keyou Craver, a product of the Nebraska football factory, as a non-supporter of the Cornhuskers move out of the Big 12 conference to the Big 10 conference. Craver seemed to take the move personally when asked about it: "Don't even get me started on that. That's just something that shouldn't be. It's huge...I understand what they're doing and that it's all about money, but I'm a Big 12 guy. There's two Nebraskas now: Nebraska and Big 12 Nebraska."
