OK. So the Bombers are officially in a position where they no longer control their own destiny. Playoff excitement is now in the hands of others, specifically the B.C. Lions and Edmonton Eskimos. The standings have the Bombers (4-11) a game behind the two West Division clubs (both at 5-10) but in reality, the local footballers are two games back, as they need to finish ahead of both the Leos and Eskies to claim the crossover spot (barring the unlikelihood of a tie in the remaining games). Here's what each team has left:

Winnipeg

Games remaining: TORONTO (7-8); at Edmonton (5-10); CALGARY (11-4)

Record of opponents: 23-22

Record against opponents: 1-3

Points scored-points against opponents: 114-97

Synopsis: The good news is the Bombers only have one road game left. The bad news is that it comes against a team they need to pass in the West to have any chance at a post season spot. Realistically, the Bombers need to win out and hope both B.C. and Edmonton really struggle the rest of the way. That will be a miracle -- no other way to put it. The club has yet to win a game on the road, faces an Argos side they have yet to beat, and then takes on one of the top teams in the country to close things out. Miracles do happen, though. Right?

B.C.

Games remaining: at Calgary; SASKATCHEWAN (9-6); at Hamilton (8-7)

Record of opponents: 28-17

Record against opponents: 1-5

Points scored-points against opponents: 148-194

Synopsis: Two road games, three games overall against clubs above the .500 mark -- it doesn't look good for the Lions. The one saving grace on the West Coast comes with the knowledge that they beat the Stamps the last time out (29-10) and played the Tiger-Cats close earlier in the season. Other than that, they're in deep waters.

Edmonton

Games remaining: SASKATCHEWAN; WINNIPEG; at Saskatchewan

Record of opponents: 22-23

Record against opponents: 1-2

Points scored-points against opponents: 58-85

Synopsis: They have the easiest path, given opponent's record and the two home contests (one against the Bombers). In the two games against the Riders, the Eskimos have won by three and lost by four points, suggesting those matches are not automatics for Regina. More good news for the Green and Gold: They are in the driver's seat should there be a tie with the Lions -- they hold the tie-breaker thanks to a 2-1 season series advantage.
