THE Winnipeg Blue Bombers have trimmed their roster just over one week before the opening of training camp.
Cut adrift on Thursday were two Canadians, fullback James Green and long-snapper Jordan Matechuk, and import defensive end Youri Yenga.
Green spent three years with the Bombers after being signed in August 2010 and likely became vulnerable when the club drafted Carl Fitzgerald, a fullback/tight end from St. Mary's in the third round of this May's draft.
Matechuk, who was trying to reclaim his career after being arrested in 2011 for possession of marijuana and steroids and while battling depression and bipolar disorder, was apparently injured in off-season training.
Yenga, meanwhile, spent most of last year on the practice roster, but did appear in four games.
