Blue Bombers ink import trio for training camp

THE Winnipeg Blue Bombers have bolstered their stable of recruits with the addition of three imports who will challenge for work when training camp opens next month.

Coming aboard are defensive lineman Aaron McConnell, whom we told you about last week, as well as receivers Tyrone Timmons and Chris Jackson.

McConnell (6-foot-3, 295, Pittsburg State) was All-American and All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in each of his four seasons and last year finished with nine sacks for the Arena League's Colorado Crush.

He was named to the AFL's all-rookie team in 2005 as a member of the Nashville Kats.

Timmons (6-foot-4, 225, Mississippi Valley State) ranks second all-time in receptions and receiving yards at Mississippi Valley State behind NFL legend Jerry Rice and last year was the AFL's Rookie of the Year after pulling in 23 passes for 267 yards and 13 TDs for the Tampa Bay Storm.

Jackson (6-foot-1, 200, Millsaps) went undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft, but spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.

In his senior year at Millsaps, Jackson led his team in receiving yards, catching 65 balls for 693 yards and nine scores.

He also added 832 yards in kickoff and punt returns.
