JUSTIN Goltz wouldn't mind another audition.

The Bombers quarterback, currently fourth on the depth chart, found his way into the 44-3 loss to the Calgary Stampeders Friday night. Making his second CFL appearance in two seasons, the 25-year-old took eight snaps in the closing minutes of the drubbing, completing one pass on three attempts and stringing together two first downs.

Not exactly demo-reel material, but he'll take it.

"It felt good to be back on the field," said Goltz, who last saw time in a game a year ago in Toronto. "Any opportunities you get you have to try and take advantage of it, regardless of the circumstances. It was good to be out there in a game situation. It's been a while."

Given the hiccups in the Winnipeg offence these days, there's been a small groundswell of support for Goltz to get his turn at quarterback. Both Alex Brink and Joey Elliott had their extended playing time, and with Goltz having been around almost as long as those two, it's not out of bounds to say that he should be worth a look, too.

Goltz has heard those rumblings. He supports this support.

"I certainly hope (my time is coming)," he said. "I work hard every week to improve myself as a player. Physically, I feel like I'm prepared and mentally, I've been around for a little over two years now and I feel more than prepared that way. I've just been told to stay patient and stay ready. I'll continue to do those things and wait for my shot."

If Goltz doesn't get another shot at the Bombers QB gig, he'll always have something over the pivot fraternity in Winnipeg. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Los Angeles native is an actor in his spare time, currently appearing in a national Tide detergent commercial where he's dressed as a New York Giants player in the locker-room (http://tinyurl.com/9g7qokv).

Goltz says he has also appeared in the Head and Shoulders commercials featuring Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer, a Gillette commercial where he's playing basketball... and the list goes on.

"I got a resumé if you need it," he laughed.

WATSON STILL UPSET: Cory Watson is one of the more reliable Bomber receivers, so you can imagine how difficult it was to revisit the film of his end-zone drop against the Stamps.

The third-year Canadian thought about that non-catch all weekend. He just plain missed it, he said, and there was no excuse for it.

"I may have lost the ball a little bit in the lights, but that's one of those plays... I should have made that play," Watson said Monday.

Minor bumps

Linebacker Henoc Muamba didn't practise Monday, joining defensive backs Alex Suber and Brandon Stewart on the sidelines. Receiver Terrence Edwards also sat out. All are expected to play Friday. It wasn't all good news on the injury front: The club ruled out right tackle Jordan Taormina (stinger) for the Hamilton game.

D-line blues

After getting hurt in Calgary (and no, he didn't bust a gut laughing), defensive lineman Brandon Collier (lower body) was put on the nine-game injured list. With Jake Thomas (undisclosed) also out this week, the Bombers signed defensive lineman Andre Caroll Monday. Caroll attended Bombers training camp in 2011 and 2012.
