Bombers sign DB Robertson

  • Print

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers went back to the future on Wednesday, announcing they have signed non-import defensive back Kris Robertson to a contract.

The Bombers drafted Robertson in the second round of the 2013 CFL Draft -- 11th overall -- but he tore his ACL prior to training camp last year and never did report to Winnipeg.

Robertson (5-9, 185, Concordia, Pickering, Ont.) earned first- and second-team All-Canadian honours as a returner while at Concordia.

If Robertson cracks the Bombers lineup, he would be just the second member of Winnipeg's 2013 draft class to accomplish that. Fullback Carl Fitzgerald was the first last season.

The other four players drafted last season by former Bombers GM Joe Mack -- Andy Mulumba, Mike DiCroce, Stephen Alli and Billy Pavlopoulos -- haven't played a down in the regular season.

The Bombers also announced on Wednesday the signing of non-import running back Errol Brooks.

Brooks (5-8, 175, York, Toronto) played for York in 2013 and earned OUA first-team all-star honours, finishing third in rushing.
