Bombers quarterback Richie Williams was part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats teams that, to be kind, haven't done so hot since last making the playoffs in 2004. But early in the 2009 season, the Ticats are the talk of the league after upsetting the B.C. Lions to even their record at 1-1. Williams doesn't know if things are different in the locker-room, though.
"You've gotta be in there to know. I'm on the outside looking in, so I couldn't even say," said Williams, a 26-year-old out of Appalachian State.
"Truthfully, I didn't even worry about (their direction) after the season. I knew I probably wouldn't be back."
TAYLOR GETS HIS KICKS
One-time kick-returning prospect Ramonce Taylor didn't stay unemployed for long.
The former University of Texas star returned to the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 after being released by the Bombers on June 19.
Taylor has 12 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown in two games with the Dorados, one of which came before Bombers training camp.
Taylor appeared to be on track to become the Bombers' primary kick returner, but was let go in part because of a "code of conduct" issue.
SPY WASTED HIS TIME
If Bomber-affiliated scout Ron Trentini was looking to help the Blue and Gold by taking notes at a Tiger-Cats practice on Tuesday, he probably should have saved himself the hassle.
"It was nothing that Mike Kelly and his coaching staff wouldn't figure out in watching five minutes of film," Tiger-Cat president Scott Mitchell told the Hamilton Spectator.
Meanwhile, a former Ticat and Blue Bomber thought Trentini's covert op might actually be a plus for the CFL.
"If anything, it's a credit to Hamilton and probably good for the league that people are trying to spy on them, y'know, cuz I don't know that anyone would have tried to spy on Hamilton the last year or so," said Esks receiver Kamau Peterson to the Edmonton Sun.
Shabazz, Bowman to play
Linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz and wide receiver Adarius Bowman were not in full equipment for Thursday's practice after having suited up for this week's other run-throughs.
Coach Mike Kelly said that both will play on Saturday.
Speaks softly, makes big sticks

Tabbies keeping it real
Tiger-Cats coach Marcel Bellefeuille was pleased with his team's 31-28 win over B.C., but knows it's a tough climb for a franchise that has four straight losing seasons. "We won't gain respect until we win some more," he told Canwest News Service.
