OFFENCE

Nic Grigsby scampered 26 yards for a touchdown with less than three minutes to go to finally bring some ground dividends to a struggling Bombers offence. He had 74 rushing yards on the night.

DEFENCE

Maurice Leggett set Winnipeg up with an interception at the Montreal 31 with just 1:42 left in the first half, but that was only the start of his good night. He interecepted two more passes in the fourth quarter, giving him a three-pick night, huge in the Bombers defensive stand.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Many worthy candidates (Troy Stoudermire, Ian Wild etc.) but we'll toss it to Winnipeg defender Derek Jones for the blocked punt that gave the Bombers a touchdown early in the third quarter.

CRITICAL NUMBERS

2

Number of field goal tries that clanged off the left upright at the north end of the stadium, one by each field-goal kicker.

4

Number of series Montreal coach Tom Higgins gave ex-Bombers quarterback Alex Brink, to the end of the first quarter and including three two-and-outs, before pulling him in favour of Jonathan Crompton.

14

Tackles in this game by Winnipeg defender Ian Wild.

FAN-O-METER:

The 29,881 in attendance at IGF had their first live look at kick returner Troy Stoudermire and roared with approval when he returned a punt for 65 yards.

FAKE GONE WRONG:

Winnipeg punter Lirim Hajrullahu tossed a pass to the right sideline to Teague Sherman in the second quarter, which Sherman reached for but dropped. But the wide-open fake would have been to no avail anyway -- Sherman was decleared an illegal substitute and Montreal took over on downs at the Bombers' 40-yard-line.
