THE defence isn't the only side of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers swapping things around to accommodate import ratio rules.
With three American offensive linemen, the offence will have to juggle Canadians, too. With packages featuring five wideouts, the Bombers will use three Canadian receivers: Akeem Foster, Jade Etienne and Rory Kohlert, Burke explained. When they have a Canadian fullback on the field, they will use two of those. They could also swap non-import running back Carl Volny in when needed and have three American receivers.

Chad Simpson and Cory Watson were back in practice on Tuesday, although neither will play this week as they recover from injuries. Watson will likely make his return next week, head coach Tim Burke said, alongside defensive back Johnny Sears, who is on the nine-game injured list.

With B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay out, even with his backup Thomas DeMarco doing well, there's a chance that the Bombers will see Buck Pierce Friday. If that happens, reporters asked the coach on Tuesday, how do the Bombers plan to handle the sometimes fragile pivot? Burke cut right to the chase.
"Are you asking whether we're going to blitz the heck out of him?" he said, prompting laughs. "No. We're not going to go out of our way to knock him out of the game or anything like that. We wouldn't do that."
