Former Blue Bombers assistant coach Cory McDiarmid is coming back into the Bombers fold as the new linebackers coach.
A special teams assistant with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last season, he has 10 years of experience in the CFL. He won a Grey Cup with the B.C. Lions in 2000. In his time he has also done stints with the Bombers, Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts. Before his time with Saskatchewan, McDiarmid had spent two years with the University of Ottawa as the defensive co-ordinator and assistant head coach.
Meanwhile, the Bombers also added two new players to their roster on Monday, signing University of Manitoba Bisons alumnus Louie Richardson, a defensive lineman, and import running back Nic Grigsby.
Richardson is returning to Manitoba after having spent two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he notched seven special teams tackles last year. Grigsby, 25, went to camp with the B.C. Lions in 2012, and before that he had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. An Arizona grad, he rushed for 2,424 yards and 20 touchdowns in 28 games with the Wildcats.
