Win and they're in

The B.C. Lions would clinch a playoff spot this week with either a win over Winnipeg or a loss by Edmonton. The 3-9 Eskimos host the 8-4 Toronto Argos on Saturday. It would be B.C.'s 17th consecutive post-season appearance, tying for the second-longest such streak in league history.

Bad boys

The CFL announced the league had fined Edmonton LB Rennie Curran for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Bombers SB Terrence Edwards. "On the play, it was determined Curran lowered his head and led with the top of his helmet," the league said in a statement. "It was also determined that Curran's helmet was the primary and initial point of contact to the helmet of his opponent."
