Cameron guest coach
THE Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday announced their guest coaches for their upcoming training camp.
Former CFL players Donovan Carter, Glen Young and Bob Cameron will be joined by American college coaches Steve Hladio and Joe Loth.
Rookie camp begans next Wednesday, veterans report for physicals next Saturday and then camp officially opens the following day, June 3.
Also on Thursday, the Bombers announced that they have released non-import fullback James Green and signed import receiver Paul Hubbard.
Hubbard, (6-foot-2, 215, Wisconsin) was a sixth rounder of the Cleveland Browns in 2008 and spent time on the practice rosters of the Browns and Oakland Raiders. Hubbard also appeared in one game with the Buffalo Bills in 2010, making a single eight-yard catch.
Green played in 26 games with the Bombers over the past two seasons, almost all of it on special teams.
Bisons, CJOB have deal
THE Manitoba Bisons have inked an agreement with CJOB 68 that sees the radio station become the official media partner of the university athletics program.
Under the partnership deal, which runs through the 2017 season, the station will provide regular coverage of Bisons sports and will see 'OB broadcast one Bison football game per season. According to the university, that game will take place during the weekend of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers annual Banjo Bowl in September.
"This partnership brings endless opportunities to Bison Sports and the ability to reach out to Manitobans in a way we've never done before and further demonstrates CJOB's and Corus' commitment to amateur sport..." Bisons athletic director Colleen Dufresne said in a statement.
The partnership will also see the university and radio station jointly award a 'Bob Irving Scholarship' to one Bisons athlete each year. Irving is the longtime sports director at CJOB.
DL Richardson a Ticat
FORMER Manitoba Bisons defensive lineman Louie Richardson has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the CFL club announced Thursday.
Richardson will join the Tabbies when rookie camp opens next week.
The 26-year-old from Vancouver registered 12.5 tackles (10 solo), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a blocked kick in five games with the Herd in 2011. Before that, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound lineman had 28.5 tackles (16 solo) along with two fumble recoveries and one sack.
In four seasons with the Bisons, Richardson had 62.5 tackles (44 solo) with three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two sacks in 23 games.
