Can you dig it? Hockey hero, volleyball star Taylor-made sports couple

HOCKEY fans have likely taken notice of Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, who scored his second and third playoff goals Wednesday night to help his team even in its first-round series at 2-2 with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It appears the 23-year-old had already caught the eye of one particular Canadian prior to his recent surge in the NHL post-season — Winnipeg volleyball star Taylor Pischke.

Pischke, 24, whose accolades extend from national volleyball championships — indoor, including a CIS national title with the University of Manitoba Bisons in 2014, and in beach play — was quick to congratulate her beau on Twitter after he potted the OT winner in the opening game of the series last Thursday.

The two appear to have been dating for more than a year; with posts on social media sites going back at least 17 months. The two are the prototypical power couple — good looks, strong physiques — and the attention they’ve garnered is mostly positive, with a large number of posters commenting on their good looks.

There has, however, also been some juicy gossip linked to their love (full disclosure: the Free Press cannot confirm at this point if in fact any L-bombs have been tossed out yet). Gossip columns reported in December 2015 that pop star Selena Gomez had taken an interest in Wilson, growing out of several "likes" Gomez left on Wilson’s Instagram photos — the new, often-used method of playful "stalking" by millennials.

That’s old news now, however, as Gomez has turned her attention to The Weeknd, another Canadian.

True north, strong and free seems to be her type; she dated Justin Bieber for years.

That’s OK, we were rooting for Taylor anyway.
