Wheat Kings fire head coach Clouston
BRANDON -- The Brandon Wheat Kings have fired head coach Cory Clouston with one year remaining on his contract.
The Western Hockey League team went 39-28-1-4 in Clouston's only season with the Wheaties, beating the Calgary Hitmen in the first round of the playoffs before losing in the second round to the eventual champion Edmonton Oil Kings. But Wheat Kings owner/general manager Kelly McCrimmon told the Brandon Sun recently he considered the season disappointing.
A replacement has yet to be announced.
Clouston spent nearly three seasons with the Ottawa Senators of the NHL before being fired in April 2011. He also coached in the American Hockey League.
