Winnipeg's new NHL team will conduct a coaching derby.
Kevin Cheveldayoff, the club's general manager who's been on the job five days, said today that interviews for the position of head coach will begin shortly.
That process will include last season's Atlanta Thrashers' head coach Craig Ramsay, who has been in limbo since the franchise was sold to True North on May 31.
Cheveldayoff and assistant GM Craig Heisinger spent this weekend in meetings about several organizational matters. Cheveldayoff said the list of coaching candidates will be short but couldn't say whether the selection will be named to the job by the entry draft, June 24-25.
Also expected to be getting an interview here is Manitoba Moose coach Claude Noel, though Noel's candidacy will be at the sole discretion of the Vancouver Canucks, to whom he is under contract.
