IceCaps begin training camp; Burmistrov among players invited

The Winnipeg Jets and the rest of the National Hockey League may be locked out, but affiliates across the American Hockey League – including the St. John’s IceCaps – will be reporting for work as usual on October 1.

Camp opens next Monday in Corner Brook and, in addition to the usual training sessions and two intra-squad games, the IceCaps will play a three-game exhibition series against the Syracuse Crunch called the Mary Brown’s Cup -- Oct. 4 in Corner Brook, Oct. 5 in Stephenville and Oct. 7 in Clarenville.

The IceCaps have invited 40 players to camp, including Alex Burmistrov, the only player who spent all of last season with the Jets. The club will be split into two training groups.
