Jerry D'Amigo's two goals lead Toronto Marlies past Lake Erie Monsters 5-3

CLEVELAND - Jerry D'Amigo had the winner and added some insurance with an empty-net goal on Sunday as the Toronto Marlies skated past the Lake Erie Monsters 5-3 in American Hockey League play.

D'Amigo broke a 3-3 tie for Toronto (34-20-6) with 1:45 left to go in the third period. He then scored into the vacated net with three seconds left in regulation time. Ryan Hamilton, Kenny Ryan and Brad Ross also scored for the Marlies, while Jussi Rynnas made 17 saves to earn the win.

Andrew Agozzino, Tyson Barrie and Stefan Elliott replied for Lake Erie (27-27-9), while Calvin Pickard stopped 21 shots.

Ross's score was the only one on Toronto's seven power-play chances. The Monsters went 2 for 4 with the man advantage.

The Marlies have won four straight to take first place in the Northern Division.
