CHICAGO -- Chris Chelios has earned more time with the Chicago Wolves.

The American Hockey League team signed the 47-year-old defenceman to a second professional tryout contract Sunday.

The 25-year NHL veteran has made 22 appearances since signing with the Wolves on Oct. 20, and is the top defenceman on the team with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists).

Chelios is second on the Wolves with a plus-nine rating and has posted a plus or even rating in 17 of his 22 outings.

Chelios racked up 185 goals, 763 assists and 2,891 penalty minutes with the Montreal Canadiens (1983-90), Chicago Blackhawks (1990-99) and Detroit Red Wings (1999-2009).

The Chicago native won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenceman three times (1989, 1993, 1996), is an 11-time NHL all-star and has captured three Stanley Cups (Montreal in 1986, Detroit in 2002 and '08).
