Oly team Czechs out Hasek

DOMINIK Hasek is on the Czech Republic's preliminary list of players for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The veteran netminder, who last played in the NHL in 2008, is one of 60 players on the initial list released by the country's hockey federation. Hasek will be 45 when the Olympics begin.

Sorry, Slats, it was money

DEFENCEMAN Alexei Semenov said it was not his wife who kiboshed a contract with the New York Rangers last month, it was money.

Rangers GM Glen Sather told the media it was because Semonov's wife balked. Semenov said it was the terms of the deal, worth about $600,000 US.

Kulikov makes strong case

IF the early returns are anything to go by, Florida Panthers rookie defenceman Dmitry Kulikov will remain with the NHL team full-time this season.

Kulikov has nine games to make his case before the team has to decide whether to keep him or return him to the Quebec Major league. He is playing 18 minutes a night and had one assist in his first four NHL games.
