Preds 3 / Jets 2 (SO)
at the MTS Centre
Big picture
The Jets played pretty well to finish up the pre-season, recording a win and a shootout loss at home this week. They were 3-3-1 in practice games, now must wait nine days to start for real in the NHL's return to Winnipeg after 15 years.
Little picture
Rookie Mark Scheifele scored on the power play at 14:07 of the third to tie it after David Legwand put home a loose puck after a blocked point shot to give Nashville the lead earlier in the period. Scheifele was in the penalty box at the time, caught for slashing, but redeemed himself well. Cal O'Reilly had the only goal of the shootout.
Game-breaker
You could pick out the power-play goal, but the backbone for the Preds on Friday night was goalie Anders Lindback, who gave up just one Winnipeg score. It was especially important because a lesser effort could have seen the Jets score more than one with their big second period.
