WINNIPEG — Lock up another member of the Winnipeg Jets in summer contract games.
Right-winger Blake Wheeler has a new deal with the Jets, a six-year pact worth $33.6 million. It heads off next week’s scheduled arbitration hearing.
That makes Wheeler’s new cap hit $5.6 million per season, a rise of more than $3 million from last season.
The 26-year-old Minnesotan scored a team-leading 19 goals and 41 points for the Jets last season.
"Thrilled to be a Jet for 6 more years," Wheeler tweeted shortly after the signing was announced.
