PITTSBURGH -- A trade and a legendary hockey name mark the biggest news for the Winnipeg Jets on the second day of the NHL's entry draft.
Winnipeg chose centre Lukas Sutter from the Saskatoon Blades with its 39th pick of the draft this morning, then added a forward Scott Kosmachuk from the Guelph Storm in the third round.
During the fourth round, where the Jets have no pick this year, it was announced the team had acquired the rights to goalie Jonas Gustavsson from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2013.
One assumes the condition is that the Jets get him signed before he becomes a free agent next week.
Gustavsson, 27, was relegated to a back-up role when Toronto ran with Manitoba product James Reimer in goal last season. He has played 107 NHL games.
That deal will make it doubly interesting to see what happens with the Jets' veteran backup Chris Mason, who also become a free agent next week and has been negotiating for a new contract with the team.
