Antropov back on the ice with Jets
WINNIPEG -- Nik Antropov is participating in his first training-camp session on the ice today at the MTS Iceplex.
Antropov, who did not pass his medical on Saturday to start official NHL camps, has been excluded from Jets skates since Sunday, missing three days.
But he's back with his teammates this morning and in a regularly coloured practice jersey, indicating that he's been cleared for action.
Missing today, however, is Jets captain Andrew Ladd. Early word from the team this morning is that it's due to personal reasons.
That leaves the team with Zach Bogosian (wrist) and Antti Miettinen (upper-body) on the injured list as it heads for Saturday's matinee season opener against the Ottawa Senators at the MTS Centre.
Also today, the Jets said they have signed left-winger Jason Jaffray, 31, to a contract.
Jaffray, captain of the St. John's IceCaps and former stalwart with the Manitoba Moose, has six goals and 20 points in 27 AHL games so far this season. He played 13 games for the Jets last season.
His signing gives the Jets further forward depth and the option to recall him anytime in the future. Jaffray had begun the season on an AHL contract.
