Antropov missing Jets practice over minor upper-body injury

WINNIPEG -- Nik Antropov is missing from the ice for the second day in a row at Winnipeg Jets training camp.

The veteran forward, 32, has been held out of action due to what the team called Sunday a minor upper-body ailment. Head coach Claude Noel told reporters that the injury left Antropov unable to pass his medical prior to the start of camp.

Nik Antropov has been held out of action over a minor upper-body ailment.

Antropov had 15 goals and 35 points for the Jets last season and played in the KHL during the lockout for Barys, scoring three goals and 16 points in 26 games.

Of note, he did skate casually with his teammates on Saturday afternoon before training camp actually began.

Today at the MTS Centre, the team began working on more systems issues on the ice, and some line combinations began to emerge.

Noel cautioned Sunday that he'll be looking at many options this week with his combinations.

Today, with Antropov out, Alex Burmistrov centred a line with Alexei Ponikarovsky and Antti Miettinen.

The team also worked with the usual line of Bryan Little between Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler; had Jim Slater between Chris Thorburn and Mark Scheifele; and had Olli Jokinen between Evander Kane and Kyle Wellwood.

Workouts continue all week ahead of Saturday's season-opening afternoon game at the MTS Centre against the Ottawa Senators.
