Cheveldayoff to speak at U of M fundraiser

Kevin Cheveldayoff will be the guest speaker at the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s and men’s hockey annual joint fundraiser.
Kevin Cheveldayoff, the executive vice-president and general manager of the Winnipeg Jets, will be the guest speaker on Feb. 6 at the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s and men’s hockey annual joint fundraiser dinner at the Canad Inns Fort Garry at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the evening will go toward student athletic scholarships in the Bisons women’s and men’s hockey programs.
Prior to joining the Winnipeg Jets on June 8, 2011, Cheveldayoff spent two years with the Chicago Blackhawks as assistant general manager/senior director, hockey operations and was part of the 2010 Stanley Cup championship organization. Prior to that he spent 12 years in management with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League/International Hockey League.
A native of Blaine Lake, Sask., Cheveldayoff was drafted in the first round by the New York Islanders in 1988. He played for the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings for four seasons in 1986-1990. Tickets are still available at www.gobisons.ca.
