Winnipeg Jets' left wing Evander Kane (9) brings the puck around the net as he is defended by Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber (6) and goalie Carter Hutton (30) during the first period of Saturday's game.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More solid goaltending by Ondrej Pavelec backed the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators this afternoon at Bridgestone Arena.

Pavelec had 39 saves for the victory.

The Jets moved four points clear of the 12th-place Predators in the Western Conference playoff chase, 66-62, and into a tie with the Dallas Stars, who hold down the eighth and final spot today.

Olli Jokinen broke open a scoreless game at 5:02 of the second and the Jets never trailed.

They also had goals from Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi to move to 11-3-1 under new coach Paul Maurice.
