WINNIPEG — Early-game meltdowns and playing from behind were not the winning formula for the Winnipeg Jets today.
The Ottawa Senators blizted them for five goals in the first half of the matinee at the MTS Centre and nursed home a 5-3 victory today.
That makes three straight losses at home this week for the Jets, including to two Eastern Conference also-rans.
Bryan Little, Toby Enstrom and Dustin Byfuglien scored goals for the Jets, who fell to 30-28-7 and remained three points back of the eighth-place Dallas Stars heading into this evening’s action.
The stall in points —just one this week from an overtime loss to the Islanders — is likely to see the Jets even farther behind by the time their next game rolls around Monday night in Colorado.
