The Winnipeg Jets have locked up one of the brightest prospects in their system, signing forward Adam Lowry to a new contract.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-5, 201-pound Calgary product – the son of long-time NHLer Dave Lowry – had signed an amateur contract with the St. John’s IceCaps earlier this month and has been solid in the American Hockey League with one assist in six games.
The 20-year-old is coming off a spectacular season with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League, scoring 45 goals and adding 43 assists in 72 games.
Lowry was drafted by the Jets in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2011 NHL entry draft.
