Jets recall Postma to bolster offence
The Winnipeg Jets have dipped into their reserves for more help for their injury-plagued defensive corps.
The Jets announced Saturday they have recalled defenceman Paul Postma from the St. John’s IceCaps. The club is currently without Dustin Byfuglien and Zach Bogosian, while Mark Flood is ill and may not be available for Saturday afternoon's game against the New Jersey Devils. The Jets may be looking to spice up their attack with Postma’s offensive punch, particularly on the power play.
Postma, 22, has six goals and 21 assists in 30 games with the IceCaps, tied for the club lead with centre Marco Rosa. He is third in scoring amongst AHL defenceman.
Postma was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round, 205th overall, in the 2007 NHL entry draft.
