Jones, Antropov join list of hurting Jets
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Move over Toby, Mark, Ron and Derek... you may soon have company in the Winnipeg Jets’ infirmary.
The Jets served up a gritty effort in a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders in front of 10,157 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Thursday night, but the win may have cost the club another defenceman.

Veteran Randy Jones left the game in the third period after taking a shot off the inside of his right ankle. He hobbled to the bench and at the first break needed help to hobble off the ice to the Jets’ dressing room. As well, centre Nik Antropov took a shot off his hand and though he returned in the third period, his status for Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils is also iffy.
"I think everything’s fine from an X-ray standpoint," head coach Claude Noel said after the game. "They’re just banged up. We’re not sure how it’s going to be with those guys. Both him and Antropov will be day to day. We’ll see how they feel (today). Jones took a heckuva shot to his foot.
"(Antropov) tried to take faceoffs, he tried to play... I thought he showed tremendous courage in battling with us and trying to help us out. He was a dependable defensive guy when we needed him to be, even though he had a little trouble gripping the stick."
All this came on a day in which the Jets confirmed Enstrom, the team leader in scoring by defencemen and minutes played, got a broken collarbone in Monday’s win over the Florida Panthers. The expectation is he’ll be gone at least a month. Mark Stuart missed the Isles’ game with an assortment of bumps and bruises, while Ron Hainsey might be green lighted to return Sunday against the New York Rangers or next week in Buffalo.
In stepped Mark Flood and Brett Festerling, summoned from the St. John’s IceCaps. Both were wandering in a mall in Hartford -- the IceCaps are to play the Connecticut Whale this week -- when the call came to join the big club.
